The LSC's workout group hierarchy is designed to provide workout groups where ability levels and group goals are
homogenous and to lay out a well-defined ladder system where advancement through the system reflects progress in
training and commitment to swimming. Groups composed of swimmers of similar ability and goals will operate more
efficiently and will result in maximum speed in an individual swimmer's development.
National Training Group
This is a new group on Loveland Swim Club designed to enable senior athletes that possess the discipline and desire to be national level
swimmers. This group is the only program on Loveland Swim Club with practice attendance requirements. The National Training Group is for
swimmers 14 and over that meet the training and best time requirements. Swimmers should be in 9th grade or higher to enter this group.
Swimmers in this group also need to commit to the National Training Group meet schedule.
Swimmers in this group are expected to keep a training journal and track their own race analyses. Swimmers in the National Training Group
will be held to the highest standards of personal behavior both at the training and away from training.
Training Requirements: Swimmers should be able to do a 2000 freestyle in 23:00 or better. Swimmers need to be within 3% of Sectional time
standards. These are posted as NTG Group time standards. Swimmers need to have a time standard or meet the training requirements to be in
the National Training Group on a full-time basis.
Practice attendance: Swimmers should not miss an average of more than 1 training session per week. This is in keeping with the goals and
philosophy of this group.
Senior Team
The Senior Training Group represents the transformation from age group swimmer to senior athlete. The swimmer is now responsible for more
of their training responsibilities and carries a larger share of the responsibility for their own swimming. Aerobic training and stroke
specialization play a large role in the Senior Group. Swimmers are given responsibilities of monitoring their performances and communicating
with the coach. The goal of this group is to achieve success on the state and high school level. This group will often train alongside the
National Training Group. During the school year, practices are offered every weekday afternoon along with 2-3 sessions per week offered
before school. Saturday morning practices are integral to success at this level. During the summer we increase the length of morning practices
along with adding more dry-land sessions. Swimmers and families need to realize that success at this level requires dedication and discipline.
Swimmers that are successful in this training group will be able to move forward to National Training Group when they achieve the qualifying
standards.
Swimmers in the Senior Group are traditionally 14 years of age and older. Swimmers must be able to do 1000 practice swim in 12:30 and have
3 senior group time standards to be in the senior group on a full-time basis, or approval of the coach. Jim Nickell directs this training
group.
High School Group
Loveland Swim Club is conducting a training group specifically for High School Age Athletes that want to improve their swimming.
The focus is on learning proper stroke, start, and turn techniques, as well as improving fitness.
The High School Development Group can serve as a great place to continue a swimmer's progress begun in their high school swim team.
Swimmers can use this group in preparation for next year's high school season, or as a springboard into more advanced training groups.
Meets will be offered in the summer in a high school style format.
Blue Boltz
Blue Boltz is Loveland Swim Club's Advanced Age Group Program. The goal is to develop age group swimmers with good skills in all fours
strokes, starts, and turns. Blue Boltz training emphasizes developing a solid aerobic base that will serve the swimmer throughout
their career. Swimmers will perform all 4 strokes at each practice session. Underwater video taping and stroke drills are the primary
teaching methods in the Blue Boltz. Competition in this group is geared at the state and zone level. Loveland Swim Club offers 6 practices
per week for this group with additional sprint practices offered during the summer months. Swimmers in the Blue Boltz use fins and pull
buoys. Coach Jim Nickell directs this training group.
Swimmers in Blue Boltz range in age from 10-16 years old. Swimmers should be able to meet 3 qualifying Blue standards and complete a 600
yard swim in 9:00 or less. Swimmers that meet some but not all the qualifying standards may be introduced to this group in 1-2 sessions
per week with coaches' approval.
White Boltz
White Boltz is the second half of our age group program. Swimmers have begun to master the strokes, starts, and turns taught in earlier
team groups. Swimmers will perform all 4 strokes at each practice session. Coaches spend time on instruction and video taping to enhance
each swimmers' understanding of what they are doing underwater. White Boltz swimmers begin to do some aerobic swim sets and kick sets are
emphasized. Fins are utilized often during practice to promote correct kicking form. Competition is structured at the local and state
level for this group. Loveland Swim Club offers 6 practices per week for this group with additional sprint practices offered during the
summer months.
The age range is from 8 to 14 years of age for the White Boltz. Three White Boltz qualifying standards should be met as well as complete a
300 Yard swim in 6:00. Swimmers that meet some but not all the qualifying standards may be introduced to this group in 1-2 sessions per
week with coaches' approval.
Red Boltz
Red Boltz is part of Loveland Swim Club's age group program. There are 2 primary objectives for Red Boltz; skill development and enjoyment
of swimming. Practices are divided into teaching segments that teach all 4 strokes at each session. Swimmers are first introduced to
underwater video taping to give them their first visual images of themselves. Fins are utilized often during practice to promote correct
kicking form and aid in stroke development. Swimmers are introduced to competition through a series of fun learning meets that include
Silver Circuits and Loveland Swim Club hosted competitions. Red Boltz end each day with a fun activity and a Team Spirit cheer. Loveland
Swim Club offers four practices per week for this group.
The age range for the Red Boltz is from 7 to 12 years of age. Swimmers should be able to legally swim a 25 of each of the four strokes to
be in the Red Boltz.

the deep end of the pool of backstroke and freestyle. Splash meets
M,W, F evenings for 45 minutes at TVHS in the diving well. Competition
