Head Coach, Jim Nickell
Jim is arguably one of the best club coaches in the country with an impressive 25 year history of coaching experience including his most recent accomplishments.

Since the Olympic Trials in 2000, he has coached athletes that have achieved the following: World Championships, Barcelona, Spain 2003; Pan Pacific Championships, Yokohama, Japan 2002; Goodwill Games, Brisbane, Australia 2001; and two swimmers on the National Junior Team, Barcelona Spain 2002. In addition, he has recently coached numerous swimmers who are currently competing at the NCAA Division I level.

The results listed above do not occur without teaching and instruction at the age group level. Jim desires to lead an age group swim program that is focused on skill development and fun. Even though the majority of his time on deck will be spent coaching the older groups, he will play an integral part in the development of all the swimmers on the team.

The Loveland Swim Club has always had a tremendous staff of qualified assistant coaches including:

Ryan Howard - Gold Boltz: Email Coach Ryan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Ryan is in his fourth year with Loveland Swim Club and coaches the Gold Group. Since joining Loveland in 2006, Ryan has coached numerous Zone qualifiers, state qualifers, state finalists and state champions (both individual and relay).

Ryan has had the opportunity to work with athletes of all interests and abilities, ranging from beginning swimmers to Olympic medalists. Athletes coached directly by Coach Ryan have won LSC high point titles and been ranked in the top 16 nationally in their events. Since Ryan began coaching with Loveland Swim Club, swimmers have finished in the top three in multiple age groups at every state championship, and Platinum Group swimmers have come together to win two relays at the state meet.

Away from the pool, Ryan is a 5th grade teacher at Loveland's Mary Blair Elementary.  Whether at the pool or in the classroom, he considers himself a teacher first, and is most at home with Loveland's age group swimmers. Beyond writing workouts and helping swimmers get fast, he wants his swimmers to understand why they do the things they do and to take ownership of their swimming.

Ryan came to LSC from the Pine Crest School in South Florida where he was the aquatics supervisor for Pine Crest's Boca Raton campus overseeing the swim team, swim lessons program, and summer camps. Ryan was also an assistant senior coach and camp administrator for the internationally popular Pine Crest Swim Camp.

Ryan was also previously a staff member with the University of Texas collegiate swimming programs, where he earned his master's degree. He was head masters coach of Austin's Great Hills Swim Team when under his leadership; the team grew to five times the size it was when he first took over. Similar growth and success occurred when Ryan was Head Age Group Coach of the Ridgefield Aquatic Club in Connecticut and a staff member with the Arizona Desert Fox in Phoenix. Ryan, his wife Leah, and their son Caleb live in Loveland.
